Mr. Dimitris Skalaios has over 30 years of experience in the financial sector, of which more than 24 years were in executive and leadership roles in the financial field. He is a seasoned finance and M&A professional with extensive experience in corporate restructuring and optimizing manufacturing processes, leading to significant increases in efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
He graduated from the Athens College in 1985. He has graduated as Dipl. Mechanical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1990 and holds a master’s degree in Finance & Business Administration (MBA) from Carnegie Mellon University – Tepper Business School, USA.
After graduating from Carnegie Mellon in 1992, he has worked for over 25 years in Greece and abroad including in senior management roles at General Electric Capital (Brussels) and Daimler AG (Stuttgart). He has also served as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Post – ELTA S.A. during the period 2005-2010.
Since 2010 he works as a business consultant – Partner at the strategic advisory boutique Sigma Catalyst Partners and focuses on mergers & acquisitions, direct investments, corporate restructuring and turnarounds, where he has developed and implemented financing and M&A projects in manufacturing (metals processing, F&B, paper etc.) as well as the service sector (IT& tech, commerce, waste management, hotels & tourism etc.).
He has deep knowledge in the areas of corporate development, private equity investments and international capital markets and has served for many years as board member of listed companies JUMBO and currently Vogiatzoglou Systems (since 2021, also as Non-Executive Vice President).
He currently serves as non-executive board member at DEPA Commercial, Greece’s leading natural gas import and wholesale company and has also served in various BoD audit committees.
On February 2, 2024 he was appointed as Executive Director and Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) of Hellenic Aerospace Industry S.A. (HAI) that carries out diverse maintenance and upgrading activities of military aircraft and engines in Greece and abroad, and also manufactures parts for the F-16 and C-130 a/c for the world market on behalf of Lockheed Martin.
