ELKEME (founded in 1999) was the first private research and development (R&D) center in the Greek Territory,
conducting applied technological research, to serve the needs of the Metallurgical Industry and Technology. ELKEME is
established and developed covering a wide range of related activities and the provision of research services with the
main objective of supporting companies/industries in the field of basic metals and their products: Copper, Aluminum,
Iron and Zinc, part of which also concerns products of the defense industry. The laboratories of ELKEME have been
staffed with human resources of high scientific competence, while at the same time they have been equipped with a
significant number of devices and instruments of modern technology.

 
   ELKEME, in its third decade of operation, continues to be at the center of research/scientific developments,
collaborating with the Greek academic community, but also with research institutions abroad, contributing and
supporting the domestic heavy industry through a wide range of products-materials, including the relevant materials
of the defense industry. Through the provision of applied technological research services, in collaboration with the
individual R&D departments of the companies, aiming at innovation in the production of high value-added products, it
is an important lever of development and progress. In addition, ELKEME acts as a model body for multifaceted
cooperation, as well as a mentoring and educating centre for young scientists, where the incubation and
implementation of innovative research ideas is promoted. Under this modus operandi, it creates the necessary
conditions for the development of human resources of high levels of skills, values and ethical integrity, offering
